How to buy an artwork

1. Browse the platform and open the artwork you are interested in.
2. Add the work to your bag.
3. Go to checkout, enter shipping details, and pay securely.
4. Receive an order confirmation by email.

Prices, fees & VAT

The price shown on an artwork is the full price you pay. It includes the artwork, our 10% buyer fee and 25% Danish VAT on that fee.

ARTDENTIFIED acts as an intermediary between the artist and the collector. The artist is the seller of the artwork and sells in their own name, while ARTDENTIFIED facilitates the transaction and handles payment on behalf of the artist.

The VAT treatment of the artwork itself depends on the artist’s VAT status and applicable VAT rules. Where VAT applies to the artwork, this will be reflected in the price shown before you place your order.

Shipping costs, where applicable, are shown separately at checkout.

Artist payout & settlement statement

The artist’s listed price is the amount they want to receive before our commission. We deduct 10% of the listed price as seller commission plus 25% VAT on that commission, so the artist receives the listed price minus 12,5%. The buyer fee is calculated separately on the same listed price and is never deducted from the artist’s payout.

For every sale, ARTDENTIFIED automatically generates a settlement statement for the artist. Example for a 10.000 kr. artwork:

The collector pays 10.000 kr. + 1.000 kr. buyer fee + 250 kr. VAT on that fee = 11.250 kr. (plus any VAT on the artwork itself if the artist is VAT registered).

The artist’s payout is made after the artwork has been delivered and the collector’s 14-day withdrawal period has expired, provided that the collector has not exercised their right of withdrawal and no return, refund or payment dispute is pending.

Payment methods

Payments are processed securely by Stripe, and we accept all major credit and debit cards. Your payment information is encrypted and never stored on our servers.

When you are charged

Your card is charged at the moment the order is placed. Payments are processed securely through Stripe, with ARTDENTIFIED facilitating the payment on behalf of the artist.

The artist is paid after the artwork has been delivered and the collector’s 14-day withdrawal period has expired, provided that no return, refund or payment dispute is pending.

If the collector exercises their right of withdrawal during this period, the artist will not be paid for the sale and the refund will be handled in accordance with our Returns & Exchanges policy.

Order confirmation

Once your payment is processed, you will receive an email confirming your order and the artist is notified to prepare the work for shipping.

Shipping costs & delivery

We sell and ship to the EU/EEA only at launch. Shipping is calculated at checkout from the artwork’s size, weight, fragility, packaging requirements, the artist’s location and the delivery address, and is always shown including VAT in your bag and at checkout before you confirm the order. Nothing is added afterwards.

Estimated delivery is 2–5 business days within Denmark, 3–8 business days within the EU, and 5–15 business days for other EEA destinations.

Right of withdrawal

As a consumer, you have 14 days from receiving the artwork to withdraw from the purchase without giving a reason.

If you exercise your right of withdrawal, we refund the artwork amount, our buyer fee including VAT and the standard outbound delivery cost. You are responsible for the direct cost of returning the artwork.

The artwork must be returned in accordance with our return instructions and appropriately packaged to protect it during transport.

Receipts & invoices

A receipt is included in your order confirmation email.

As the artist is the seller of the artwork and ARTDENTIFIED acts as an intermediary, any invoice relating to the artwork will reflect the applicable artist and VAT information. If you require a formal invoice or additional documentation for your purchase, please contact us.
