Daniel van der Noon (b. 1988, Birmingham) is a Copenhagen-based artist working across painting, drawing, collage and writing. Exploring his childhood in Birmingham and the structure of memory, his painting method follows the behaviour of memory itself: editing, exaggerating, conflating and inventing. Places run into other places, colours belong to several decades at once, and familiar objects become strange. Bringing past and present together, his paintings explore how an image might recover something of the feeling of being somewhere, giving memories new texture, form and colour.
